Wonderful close up Richard. You wouldn't want to get too close to this guy in the wild...they are cabable of disembowelling a human if riled. I am a supporter of Rainforest Rescue and in particular our World Heritage Daintree Rainforest in Northern Queensland. After two cyclones, these birds were in big trouble and therefore the rainforest was potentially in trouble as these are the only animals that can eat the fruits of many of the trees and they germinate after being through their digestive track..no birds..no new trees. We set up feeding stations in the short term and in the long term have set up breeding programmes in the various zoos in Australia. We are also buying up and rejuvinating land adjacent to the rainforest which will also help. Fingers crossed...they get a break from cyclones for a few years.
